Prosolas provides professional ballast water treatment system (BWTS) sample analysis to support vessel compliance with international environmental regulations. We assist shipowners and managers during BWTS commissioning and verification, ensuring that installed systems operate correctly and meet IMO D-2 discharge standards. Our services are delivered by experienced marine specialists and accepted by class societies and port state authorities across Europe and worldwide.
Vessel General Permit (VGP)
In addition to IMO D-2 requirements, Prosolas also supports ballast water sampling and analysis in line with Vessel General Permit (VGP) requirements. Our testing helps verify that ballast water discharge and system operation meet applicable environmental standards, supporting compliance during inspections, audits, and reporting. About the Ballast Water Sample Analysis
Ballast water sample analysis is performed to validate the biological efficacy of the installed BWTS under operational conditions. Testing confirms that discharged ballast water complies with the IMO D-2 standard for organism size classes ≥ 50 μm and ≥ 10 μm to < 50 μm, while also verifying correct operation of the system’s self-monitoring equipment.
Biological efficacy testing is carried out by a testing facility independent of the BWTS manufacturer, ensuring impartial and reliable results. The commissioning report documents the testing methods used and the biological analysis results, providing clear evidence that the system functions as required at the time of commissioning.
